(ANHRI/IFEX) - On 15 April 2010, the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (ANHRI) said that the Emirates Ministry of Communication decision to lift the block on the Save Egypt Front website was highly appreciated. The site was accessible again in the UAE on 14 April after two days of being blocked.

The Save Egypt Front website manager declared to ANHRI in a phone call that he received a message in the website mail box from the Emirates Ministry of Communication informing him that the blocking was due to technical glitches that had been resolved.

ANHRI verified from sources in the UAE that the blocking had in fact been lifted.

ANHRI said, "It is a step forward and indeed highly appreciated that the Emirates went back on a hasty decision that proved to be not in the Emirates' best interest. We are looking forward to seeing more positive steps taken to unblock all other inaccessible sites in the Emirates, to show genuine support for the right to a free internet as a basic human right".
