(IPYS/IFEX) - On 3 October 2006, state television channel "Venezolana de Televisión" journalist Álvaro Cañizales and his cameraman, César Zambrano, were threatened by a group of food processing company Albeca C.A. employees while the television team was covering the latter's protest march. This took place in the state of Carabobo, in north central Venezuela.

The act of aggression took place when the journalists arrived at the company's facilities to cover the employees' protest march. The workers were demanding that several of their colleagues be reinstated in their positions in the processing plant.

Cañizales told IPYS that a group of approximately 20 people threatened the journalists, demanding that they leave or risk being beaten up. The protesters then accused the reporters of working for the government and attacked their vehicle.

The journalist and his cameraman were unharmed.
