I'LAM HOSTS "OLD CITY, NEW HORIZONS" MEDIA FESTIVAL IN NAZARETH

I'lam, the only Arab Palestinian media centre in Israel, is hosting a two-day media festival in Nazareth called "Old City, New Horizons" on 25-26 May.

Participants can learn best practices for reporting on free expression violations, attend training sessions by seasoned bloggers on what makes an effective blog, and seek advice from professional debating coaches on how to advocate for women's rights and gender issues. Children who attend can design and distribute their own newspaper.

That's just day one. On 26 May, the best investigative journalists in the region will be recognised, and the Code of Ethics that I'lam has developed for the local Arab media is to be formally signed. For the finale - a roundtable on practical steps to build on the media capacities of Palestinians in Israel.
