MISA'S JOHN MANYARARA INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM AWARDS 2007

The Media Insititute of Southern Africa (MISA) is inviting entries for the John Manyarara Investigative Journalism Awards 2007, which honours excellence in investigative journalism in the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

The John Manyarara Investigative Journalist of the Year will receive a cash prize of 4,000 Euros (US$5,430), while the Upcoming Investigative Journalist of the Year will receive a prize of 2,000 Euros (US$2,715) and a professional development scholarship worth 6,000 Euros (US$8,146). The work of both winners will best demonstrate the ideals of investigative reporting: perseverance, insight, integrity and in the public interest.

The award was inaugurated on World Press Freedom Day in 2001.

Deadline for entries is 7 July 2007.
