Journalists from around the world are invited to apply for the 2008 Frédéric Bastiat Prize, which honours work that promotes the principles of a free society with eloquence and wit. The deadline for entries is 30 June 2008.

The award, administered by the U.K.-based International Policy Network, is named in honour of the 19th century liberal French satirist and advocate of civil liberties. A US$15,000 prize will be split among first, second and third place winners.

Entries, which should take the form of one or more published articles, are judged according to their intellectual content, the persuasiveness of the language and the type of publication in which they appeared. Articles must be in English and should not exceed 4,500 words.
