Authorities must stop torture, ill-treatment of demonstrators

Reports indicate that at least 100 people remain in detention in Khartoum alone, a majority of whom are being held in National Security Services detention centers, well known for the use of ill-treatment and torture.

Three media outlets attacked in 12 hours

In three separate incidents, the offices of the daily El Mañana, in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, as well as those of the El Norte newspaper's supplements La Silla and Linda Vista, in Nuevo León, were attacked with explosives and firearms.

Activists handed prison sentences for participating in peaceful demonstration

The activists were given sentences ranging from six months to one year for participating in a sit-in in solidarity with other detained activists.

Call on the government to withdraw amendment to the Evidence Act Section 114a, an amendment which has been passed by both Upper and Lower Houses, extends to practically everyone who uses any internet platform - from e-mail and social media to blogs and online media.
