Stories in the fight against impunity

Around the globe, citizens, journalists, activists and artists are harassed, tortured and even killed simply for exercising their right to express themselves. In the great majority of these cases, no one is held accountable. The widespread impunity for these attacks creates a profound chilling effect on the free flow of information and ideas needed for democracy to flourish.

Through the No Impunity Campaign, IFEX seeks to increase global political will to end impunity by elevating the voices of victims to the international stage and calling on governments to uphold higher standards of justice and accountability.

One way we are doing this is by joint advocacy with local IFEX members on three emblematic cases of impunity: Ebrima Manneh and Musa Saidykhan of The Gambia, Jineth Bedoya in Colombia and Shan Dahar in Pakistan.

The Story Map below shares their stories and fight for justice.
