Infographs on media coverage of upcoming Malaysian elections

Watching the Watchdog is a project to monitor media coverage of the upcoming general elections on 5 May 2013, by the Centre for Independent Journalism. Billed "Watching the Watchdog", this media monitoring exercise is the largest of its kind ever undertaken by civil society.

Together with partners the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus's (UNMC) Centre for the Study of Communications and Culture and the School of Modern Languages and Cultures, CIJ is coordinating the monitoring of 29 of the most popular and influential media from print, online, Bernama (state news agency), and free-to-air television, across Malay, English, Mandarin and Tamil languages. The monitoring began after the dissolution of Parliament and will continue until three days after polling day.

The objective of the monitoring is to gauge media performance in its treatment of political parties and key policy issues.

These infographs illustrate some of the findings of the media monitoring project.
