Murdered journalist's body found

(FNJ/IFEX) - The body of murdered journalist Birendra Kumar Shah was found at around 2:00 p.m. (local time) on 8 November 2007 in Dumarwana village, near Tangiya colony in Bara district, about 160 kilometres south of Kathmandu.

Binod Pyakurel, president of FNJ's Bara district chapter, said the police administration informed him that the body was found buried at a place called Bhaimathghat in the Dumarwana area. Shah's family identified the body from the clothes and spectacles that he had worn at the time he was abducted.

Shah's body will be handed over to his family after legal matters are settled.

Shah was abducted by Maoist cadres on 5 October and killed the same day.

The FNJ central committee is holding an urgent meeting at 3:00 p.m. (local time) on 8 November to discuss the issue.
