Reporter receives death threats

(Freedom Forum/IFEX) - Freedom Forum is deeply concerned over a threat issued on January 25, 2011 to journalist Shree Ram Rayamajhi, deputy editor of the "Janapratibimba" daily, in the Parsa-Mid Terai district of Nepal.

According to Rayamajhi, the threat was made by an unknown caller to his phone while he was at work at the paper's offices that evening. The caller attacked Rayamajhi's news coverage, saying he would kill the journalist within three days.

The call was made from an Indian mobile phone.

Freedom Forum condemns the threats to the journalist and asks the local administration to investigate the incidents and bring those responsible to justice to discourage press freedom violations.
