TAKE ACTION! DEMAND AL JAZEERA ENGLISH

Al Jazeera has launched a new website called IwantAlJazeera.net, which dispels the myths around the popular news agency and gives North American visitors the chance to watch the news Al Jazeera produces directly - in the hopes that they will contact their cable or satellite provider and demand that they carry Al Jazeera English.

Unlike the rest of the world, most North American audiences have limited access to Al Jazeera English, which was launched in November 2006 to more than 80 million households worldwide. Drawing on the legacy of the Al Jazeera Arabic channel, the 24-hour news and current affairs channel is the first international English-language news channel to be broadcast across the world from the Middle East.

By typing in your post or zip code, a list of possible service providers for your area comes up, and with a few clicks of the mouse you can demand Al Jazeera English via email.

Visitors can also submit their own testimonials about why they think Al Jazeera English should be on air in North America, and sign up for periodic updates from the site.

Al Jazeera is backing the web launch with a series of press ads in publications including "The Globe & Mail" in Toronto and "The New York Times".
