(SKeyes/IFEX) - On 31 January 2011, Hammas police officers attacked a group of journalists and confiscated their cameras. A correspondent for the Skeyes Center for Media and Cultural Freedom, Asma Alghoul, was beaten and detained for five hours, while a correspondent for "Aljazeera talk", Nazek Abu Rahme, and bloggers Abeer Ayoub, Razan Al-Madhon and Iba'a Zoelfikar Swayrjo were detained for four hours. The officers also confiscated the press card of journalist Fares Elghoul. The journalists were subjected to insults and dragged to the police station.
