Unidentified men arrived at the TV station's door, threatened and forced Carlos Ignacio Rocca into their vehicle and drove off.
(IPYS/IFEX) – On 15 March 2010, five armed men kidnapped Carlos Ignacio Rocca, Televiza TV’s news director and son of the president of the Televiza regional station, according to information provided by Odalis Caldera, Secretary of Security and Public Order in the State of Zulia, in western Venezuela.
The unidentified men arrived at the TV station’s door in a black Volkswagen Golf, overpowered Rocca, threatened him and forced him into the vehicle and took him to an unknown destination.
Odalis Caldera said that the men covered their faces with balaclavas and were armed with rifles and guns.
He also stated that the abandoned car was found a few hours later by the police in a sector of the region. She also pointed out that a police operation is underway at control points in Maracaibo, Mara and San Francisco to find the young man.
Six kidnappings have taken place in the state of Zulia in less than six days. It is not known if the kidnapping is related to Rocca’s work as a journalist.
