Journalist's Twitter account hacked after reporting on military

(IPYS-Venezuela/IFEX) - On 30 November 2011, alleged hackers attacked the Twitter account of Sebastiana Barráez, a journalist for the weekly paper "Quinto Día", and used it to disseminate messages, including one which said that Teodoro Petkoff, editor of the newspaper "Tal Cual", had died. This took place in Caracas.

Barráez reported to IPYS-Venezuela that the group N33 had assumed responsibility for the attack. The journalist added that she believed the aggression was a response to investigations she published about the alleged murders of peasants of the Alto Apure region committed by a group of members of the military.

It is worth remembering that N33, a supporter of Hugo Chávez's government, took responsibility for a massive attack that took place last September, in which it misappropriated the accounts of political leaders and journalists.
