Journalist reports plan to discredit him

(IPYS-Venezuela/IFEX) - On March 6, 2012 journalist Nelson Bocaranda reported a likely plan to discredit journalists who write or speak about controversial political events happening in the country.

Bocaranda said in one of his columns that there seemed to be a plan to kidnap him and then make him appear drugged in a photomontage which would be publicised by the State-owned media, with the intention of harming his credibility. Bocaranda confirmed this information for IPYS-Venezuela.

Recently, Bocaranda stated that his website had suffered a cyber-attack trying to suspend the website. He also said that he did not know where the attack came from. The webpage was under maintenance for many hours to prevent its shut down.
